These terms apply when you request a quote, book a shipment, or otherwise use this website. Read them before booking — particularly the sections on our role as a broker, payment timing, and damage claims.
Our role: licensed broker, not carrier
Leader Auto Ship operates as a licensed property broker registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. We arrange transportation with FMCSA-authorized motor carriers; we do not own the trucks and do not physically transport your vehicle. The assigned carrier is responsible for the transport itself and for cargo liability during transit.
Quotes and pricing
The instant estimator on this site produces a good-faith ballpark based on distance, vehicle class, transport type, running condition, and date flexibility. It is not a binding contract. Your final price is confirmed when a carrier accepts your vehicle at a specific rate. If market conditions on your lane make the estimate unachievable, we will tell you before anything is charged and give you the choice to wait, widen your dates, or adjust the rate.
Payment
- No payment is collected at the time of booking
- A deposit becomes due only once a licensed carrier is assigned with a confirmed pickup window
- The remaining balance is paid directly to the carrier at delivery, by the method stated on your dispatch confirmation
- Prices are in U.S. dollars
Cancellation
You may cancel free of charge at any time before a carrier is dispatched. Once a carrier has been assigned and is en route, a cancellation fee may apply, because the driver has reserved a position on the trailer and declined other loads to take yours.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate vehicle information, including running condition, modifications, and any oversize dimensions
- Remove personal belongings; items left in the vehicle are not covered by cargo insurance and may expose the driver to DOT penalties
- Ensure someone aged 18 or older is present at pickup and delivery to inspect the vehicle and sign the Bill of Lading
- Provide safe, legal access for a full-size carrier, or agree to a nearby alternate meeting point
- Leave approximately a quarter tank of fuel and disable any alarm
Delivery windows
All pickup and delivery dates are estimates. Weather, traffic, mechanical issues, DOT hours-of-service limits, and road closures can shift a schedule. We communicate changes as soon as we learn of them, but we cannot guarantee a specific hour or day, and we are not liable for consequential costs such as rental cars, lost wages, or missed appointments arising from a delay.
Damage claims
Damage must be noted on the Bill of Lading at delivery, before you sign, and reported to us immediately. Claims are filed against the assigned carrier's cargo insurance using the pickup and delivery inspection reports as evidence. Signing a clean Bill of Lading at delivery substantially limits the ability to pursue a claim later. Pre-existing damage, mechanical or electrical failure not caused by transport, and damage to personal items are not covered.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability arising out of or relating to these terms or any shipment is limited to the brokerage fee paid to us for that shipment. Cargo liability for damage occurring during transit rests with the assigned motor carrier under its own insurance policy and applicable federal law.

Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which the business is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update these terms; the version in effect when you book governs your shipment.
